A blue box in the LED light lab – this is how we test the brightness of our FLAGPOLE CHRISTMAS TREES
When we talk about the quality of a FLAGPOLE CHRISTMAS TREE, it’s not just about durability and material choices – it’s also about the light itself. That’s why we at Montejaur have developed our own method for measuring the brightness of our LED light strings. In our small LED laboratory, we have a specially built blue box that allows us to measure exactly how bright our diodes shine, without interference from other light sources.
This is how we measure brightness
By placing one or more LED diodes inside the blue measuring box and using a professional light meter from Marelco, we get precise lux values. This way, we can ensure that our FLAGPOLE CHRISTMAS TREES meet our high standards for brightness – every year, no matter the weather conditions.
Brightness is affected by several factors:
- The materials and optics of the diode
- The current flowing through the circuit
- The design of the light source (lens, casing, etc.)
Contrary to popular belief, it is primarily the current that determines how bright an LED shines – not the voltage. However, too much current can shorten the lifespan, so it’s all about finding the perfect balance – which our measurements help us achieve.
Temperature tests for safe operation
Alongside the brightness measurements, we also conduct temperature tests on the transformers. Using both infrared meters and probes, we check that the temperature stays within safe limits during operation. All to ensure the reliability of our FLAGPOLE CHRISTMAS TREES year after year.

We know that brightness, quality, and safety are crucial – especially in public spaces where our FLAGPOLE CHRISTMAS TREES are often used. That’s why we’ve created a new printed brochure presenting our products and our quality work.
